Achieving this required immense patience, consistency in massage therapy and physiotherapy, and strong emotional support. It was a time-consuming journey, yet small changes—such as improved muscle control—offered a great ray of hope.

Below is a concise guide to the care phases that help a patient regain the ability to walk:

1. Emotional & Mental Support

Continuous Motivation:

Patients often struggle with feelings of hopelessness. Celebrate every small milestone, even if it is simply the ability to wiggle a toe.

Avoid Over-Dependence:

Encourage the patient to perform basic tasks independently (such as eating or wiping their face) to build self-confidence.

2. Physical Exercise, Massage Therapy & Physiotherapy

Regular Massage Therapy:

Perform therapeutic massages daily to improve blood circulation, reduce muscle stiffness, and prevent muscle atrophy. Proper massage techniques help soften tense tissues and prepare the patient’s body for movement exercises.

Consistency:

Perform light exercises daily, such as leg stretches, slow leg lifts, and core-strengthening exercises.

3. Transfer & Safety (Bed-to-Wheelchair Transition)

Position the wheelchair close to the patient’s stronger side to facilitate movement.
